Bellafill (previously known as Artefill) is the first and only FDA-approved non-resorbable injectable dermal fillers for the correction of facial wrinkles known as nasolabial folds, or smile lines. It is a formulation of tiny round and smooth particles (PMMA microspheres) and purified bovine collagen gel with lidocaine, an anesthetic (to minimize post-treatment tenderness). Dr. Laris is a National Trainer for Bellafill and an acne scarring specialist.
Bellafill is a dual-acting injectable wrinkle filler. When an injection is given, the solution not only acts as a dermal filler, but its microspheres also stimulate the body to produce its own collagen. As the injected collagen slowly degrades naturally, the newly produced collagen replaces it. This provides a permanent support structure for enduring wrinkle and acne scar correction, resulting in long-lasting, almost permanent results. Bellafill is injected under the surface of the skin where it then fills the wrinkle, raising the skin to its normal height. Over a period of 2-3 months, the body will permanently anchor Bellafill for a long lasting effect.* The full effect of Bellafill can be seen after about 3 months.
To insure you are not allergic to the collagen or anesthetic in Bellafill, a skin test must be administered by Dr. Laris at least four (4) weeks prior to the initial treatment.
