About Phoenix Skin

Phoenix Skin Medical Surgical Group specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, medical and surgical hair restoration, as well as all areas of medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Our board certified physicians and physician assistants are the finest in their fields and strive to bring you the latest techniques and procedures available through our state of the art facilities.

Meet Our Team

Lee Laris, DO
Practicing in the valley since 1992, Dr. Lee Laris is the Medical Director and Chief Cosmetic Surgeon of Phoenix Skin Medical Surgical Group. Dr. Laris graduated from Gannon University in 1981 and continued his education at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific where he received his Medical Degree in 1987. His internship was completed at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

Dr. Laris is highly trained in all areas of Medical, Surgical and Cosmetic Dermatology and has built an international reputation as one of the first certified hair transplant surgeons by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgeons. He is recognized for his use of minimal incision surgery with a focus on maintaining and restoring a youthful appearance via high-tech, less-invasive methods including mini face lift, microlipoinjection (fat transfer), Botox, dermal fillers, laser resurfacing and hair restoration.

Dr. Laris is a board certified Fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, California Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, American Osteopathic Association, Phoenix Dermatologic Society and Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association.

Michael Richards, PA-C
Michael Richards is a native Arizonan. He grew up in Casa Grande and later moved to Tempe to attend Arizona State University. Midway through his degree, he moved to Chicago and transferred to Midwestern University where he graduated in 1997 with honors from Midwestern with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. After graduating, he moved back to Phoenix, accepting an adjunct faculty appointment with Midwestern University in Glendale as well his current position with Dr. Laris at Phoenix Skin. Michael completed an intensive six month dermatological residency administered by Dr. Laris and various other valley dermatologists. He has been licensed by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants to practice medicine since 1997.

Michael is a member of the Arizona Dermatology Physician Assistant Society, the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants in Legal Medicine, and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Michael also serves as a preceptor to various Physician Assistant programs across the country, educating students on a regular basis. When he is not at work, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and his children.

Tana Frumento, MPAS, PA-C
Tana Frumento received her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) and Arts in Bioethics from Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ. As part of her degree studies, Tana completed specialized clinical rotations in dermatology. Her formal medical training has included a focused dermatological training period under the direction of Dr. Lee Laris. Tana is also skilled at several cosmetic procedures including injections of Botox and fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm. Being an Arizona native, Tana has a keen interest in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer along with educating sun safety and reducing skin cancer risk. She completed her undergraduate education at Arizona State University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

Tana is a member of the Arizona Dermatology Physician Assistant Society, Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She is also a preceptor for Midwestern University. Tana was certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) in 2006, and then became licensed to practice medicine in the state of Arizona under the supervision of a physician.

Sophia Au, MPAS, PA-C
Sophia was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio in 1998. She then became an Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate and a Certified Nurse Assistant before attaining her Master of Science degree at Wayne State University in 2002. She completed her medical training through the Wayne State University Physician Assistant Program in Detroit, Michigan with an emphasis in dermatology. Sophia was certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants in 2002.

Sophia is a board certified physician assistant practicing in the field of dermatology for over 8 years. She has been on staff as an consultant at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren, Michigan and has participated as a clinical investigator for multiple dermatological clinical studies. She has been a preceptor to many physician assistant programs as well as being an advisory board member to pharmaceutical companies. She has served on multiple committees for Michigan Dermatology Society of Physician Assistants and Michigan Physician Assistants in Dermatology Journal Club.

She is skilled in medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology as well as laser therapies. She is a certified injector of Botox and fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm. She is currently a member of the Arizona Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, Wayne State Society of Physician Assistants, Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Katherine Azar Haworth, MPAS, PA-C
Katherine Azar Haworth received her bachelor's degree in Biology from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA. She completed her physician assistant education at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ where she graduated with a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS). During her masters clinical rotations she specialized in dermatology and surgery. Her formal medical training focused on medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology under the direction of Dr. Lee Laris. Katherine has been practicing dermatology with Phoenix Skin since January 2005. She is also skilled in numerous cosmetic procedures including Botox injections and fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm.

Katherine is a member of the Arizona Dermatology Physician Assistant Society, Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). Katherine was certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) in 2004. Outside of work, Katherine enjoys spending time with her husband and son, traveling and hiking.

Elizabeth Lemmer, MPAS, PA-C
Elizabeth left her hometown of Portland, Oregon to earn her Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Arizona in 2006, and now considers Phoenix her home. Elizabeth is a board certified Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). She received her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University in Glendale. As part of her degree studies, Elizabeth completed specialized clinical rotations in dermatology at Phoenix Skin. Her formal medical training has included a focused dermatological training period under the direction of Dr. Lee Laris, including specialized training in surgical dermatologic procedures. Elizabeth also performs several cosmetic procedures including injections of Botox and fillers. She has a particular interest in skin cancer treatment and prevention.

Elizabeth is a member of the Arizona Dermatology Physician Assistant Society, Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Arizona State Association of Physician Assistants.

Sara Widick, Licensed Aesthetician, Certified Laser Technician

Sara is a native of Nebraska and did her aesthetics training at IMAj Institute of Medical Aesthetics & Laser in Scottsdale. Prior to starting her career in the skin care industry, Sara worked as a Licensed Massage Therapist for 9 years. She is very service oriented and enjoys working with patients to develop a treatment regimen that achieves their skin care goals. Sara is licensed to perform Laser Hair Reduction, Laser Vein Reduction, Intense Pulsed Light, Xtrac laser, chemical peels and microdermabrasion. Sara is also happy to make PCA Skin, Obagi and Skinceuticals product recommendations.

Jenna Yount, Licensed Aesthetician, Certified Laser Technician
Jenna grew up in Paradise Valley and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Upon returning to Arizona, Jenna attended IMAj Institute of Medical Aesthetics & Laser and completed extensive training in laser hair removal, Intense Pulsed Light, Thermage, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels. She enjoys developing treatment plans and customized home care regimens to help her patients achieve their skincare goals. In her free time, Jenna loves traveling around the world, skiing, and spending time with her family and friends.
