Restylane

Consultations offered at our two convenient locations in Phoenix and Scottsdale

Restylane Scottsdale Phoenix

Restylane is a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler that smooths wrinkles and adds natural-looking volume to the skin. HA occurs naturally in the skin acting as a natural moisturizer within the connective tissues, which allows it to feel and appear plump and supple. As you age, the amount of hyaluronic acid produced by your body slowly reduces, leading to lines, wrinkles, and volume loss. (1)

With Restylane, you can achieve rejuvenation in multiple areas of the face, including the nasolabial folds, under-eye area, and the lips. Call our Phoenix office at (602) 222-9111 or the Scottsdale office at (480)-473-9111 to set up a consultation today to learn about what Restylance can do for you. We offer online scheduling for your convenience.

About Restylane Treatments

Restylane-L, Restylane, and Restylane Silk are all available at Phoenix Skin. All three of these fillers vary in consistency and placement depth, according to the treatment area. During your consultation, we will help you determine which Restylane filler will work best for you and your goals.

Restylane

Restylane is designed to add volume and restore youthful contours to the face, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and folds. Unlike surgical procedures, Restylane provides non-invasive facial rejuvenation with minimal downtime. HA-based fillers like Restylane make for procedures that are both quick and non-invasive. Restylane can be particularly helpful in treating nasolabial folds, also known as smile lines, which are the lines that reach from the corners of the mouth to the sides of your nose. (2)

Restylane-L

Restylane Lyft (Restylane-L), previously known as Perlane, is used to soften deeper wrinkles and facial folds. It is also a popular filler for lip augmentation, facial depressions, and facial scarring. It is composed of hyaluronic acid, but at a higher concentration than other dermal fillers. This makes Restylane-L injections great for smoothing deep lines, which can occur over time through the natural aging process.

Restylane Silk

Restylane Silk primarily treats fine perioral lines or perioral rhytides, which are the lines and wrinkles that form around the lips. One of the differences between Restylane Silk and regular Restylane is that Restylane Silk is less viscous, or less thick. Due to this lower viscosity, the filler can flow quickly and more easily compared to typical Restylane. These traits make Restylane Silk a suitable treatment for addressing these fine lines around the mouth and lips, as this filler needs less pressure during the injection. (3)

What Can Restylane Treat?

Restylane benefits you if you are hoping to address any of the following signs of aging:

  • Worry Lines: Horizontal lines appearing on the forehead (forehead lines).
  • Smile Lines: The lines that run from the corners of the mouth to the sides of the nose (nasolabial folds).
  • Crow’s Feet: Lines which radiate outward from the corners of the eyes (periorbital lines).
  • Frown Lines: Creases that form between the eyebrows over time (glabellar lines).
  • Marionette Lines: Lines that extend downwards from the corners of the mouth (oral commissures).
  • Smoker’s Lines: Fine lines that form on the upper lip (perioral or vertical lip lines).

Restylane fillers achieve a volumizing effect by attracting, absorbing, and retaining water. When the filler is fully degraded, it is absorbed into your tissue without any thickening/scarring or any filler substance left behind. (1)

Who Is a Good Candidate for Restylane?

You must be at least 21 years of age or older to undergo Restylane treatment. Other traits that will make you a great candidate for Restylane:

  • You have no severe allergies.
  • You have no allergy to certain bacterial proteins.
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder.
  • You have no active infections. (4)

Consultation at Phoenix Skin

During your consultation, we will discuss the different types of Restylane treatments that are available. We will learn about your goals and expectations as they relate to the Restylane procedures.

We will also ask you about your medical history and any allergies at this time.

Preparation

To prepare for your treatment, you should avoid or discontinue taking aspirin, other anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), and certain supplements several days before your Restylane procedure. Avoiding anti-inflammatory medications helps to mitigate potential side effects, such as bruising and bleeding in and around the treatment area. (4)

On the day of your appointment, we will prepare you for your Restylane treatment by cleaning the targeted area and conditioning your skin with topical numbing cream(2) if you are injecting in the lip area (although some patients do not need or require topical numbing, depending on the person).

Procedure

Restylane treatment procedure steps can vary slightly, depending on what type of Restylane treatment you are receiving and where you are receiving the treatment. (2)

To begin, your Phoenix Skin professional will insert a thin-gauge needle at an angle into the targeted area. We will inject Restylane more deeply when addressing areas like the folds extending from the sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth. For finer lines, such as those around the mouth, we will inject the filler into a shallower layer of tissue. (2)

Recovery

Once your 20-30-minute appointment is complete, you are free to resume your normal activities. As with all dermal injections, temporary swelling, bruising, or redness may occur. (4)

You should also try to limit your time in the sun or any type of UV lamp light. Try to avoid spending time outside if you go somewhere where the weather conditions are extremely cold. Once swelling and redness are completely gone, it is alright to go out into the sunlight and in cold weather. (4)
