Facial implants are used to correct the shape and balance of the face. By surgically inserting a silicone implant beneath the skin to build up the chin, cheekbone, lips and jaw line; the implant is set and remains in the body for years to come. The procedure can be very invasive with long recovery times. Sometimes the implant shifts or the body simply rejects it, thus resulting in infection and subsequent extraction. Microlipoinjection, also called autologous fat transfer or fat injections, is a procedure in which an individual's own body fat is used to fill lines and creased areas in the skin, or to add volume to lips and cheeks. It can even correct certain types of scars and problems caused by liposuction and add definition to the jaw and chin.
